Chrome Privacy/Cookie Settings

Are you having trouble logging in to the classroom, or do the "Allow" and "Remember" buttons not appear in the classroom setup? The cause is likely in your browser's privacy settings.

Instructions for other browsers:Firefox (Windows) Firefox (Mac) Internet Explorer 6/7/8 Internet Explorer 9+

Please follow these steps to correct the settings:

  1. Open Chrome's Settings page, as shown below.
  2. Open Chrome settings page
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the settings, and click Advanced, as shown here:
  4. Show Chrome advanced settings
  5. Scroll down a little more to the Privacy and security section.
  6. Click Content settings, and then Cookies.
  7. Chrome cookie settings
  8. Allow sites to save and read cookie data is the strongly recommended setting. Otherwise, you must add [*.]nihongo-pro.com to the Allow sites.

Keep local data only until you quit your browser does not work. Likewise, adding nihongo-pro.com to Clear on exit sites will interfere with the classroom.

  9. Close all the settings windows, and try the classroom setup again.

You May Need to Update Adobe Flash Player

In most cases, Chrome updates Flash Player automatically. However, if Flash Player is out of date for any reason, Chrome will block its use. Follow the steps below to update Flash Player manually.
  1. Open Chrome's Components page. Scroll down to Adobe Flash Player, and click Check for update.
  2. Open Chrome components page
  3. If an update is available, the update will download and install. If no update is available, the message "Status - Component not updated" will appear.
  4. If Flash Player was updated, close all Chrome windows, restart Chrome, and try the classroom setup again.
